Common woodland grasshopper we recently met on one of our woodland trips.

One of the best things about being a regular visitor to our local woodland in Derrydonnell is the sheer amount of wonderful insects you can encounter on a daily basis.

Prior to finding this little fellow I had been lamenting the loss of the familiar sound of grasshoppers in the evening, and then as if he heard me, suddenly he was sitting in the centre of a large daisy, and I can tell you he was looking up at me. (At least that’s what I would like to think).

He kindly waited for some pictures and then hopped off about his business. Maybe, just maybe I’ll see him again 🙂
